Activities at Macquarie

Research
I am currently a PhD student and member of Macquarie University's Astronomy Group.
- PhD topic: low surface brightness galaxies in the Virgo cluster.
- Highlights of trip to Gemini North Telescope in Hawai'i, 2006.

Observatory and Planetarium
I am coordinator for the Observatory's public observing program on Friday nights and planetarium operations on-campus and in the field.

Lecturing and Teaching
I have presented lectures on the heat equation, random walk, chaos and complexity for PHYS220 Scientific Modelling.
I was formerly the Teaching Assistant for GEOS309 Astrobiology.
I sometimes do lab demonstrating in the 1st-year physics labs.
Administration
I designed and maintain the Division of ICS web pages on Funding & Travel.
I do bookkeeping for the Macquarie University Foundation for Astronomy.

I was on the local organising committees for the Harley Wood Winter School 2007 and the Astronomical Society of Australia's Annual Science Meeting 2007.
ASISTM Project
I am manager/administrator for the Australian Schools Innovation in Science, Technology and Mathematics (ASISTM) Project - Bringing Deep Space into the Classroom. This project uniquely brings together my skills in education, astronomy and administration. The project utilises the Faulkes Telescopes (part of the LCOGT network) to inspire Australian school students.
