Honours Degree Programs in Physics, Astronomy, Lasers and Photonics

This involves an additional one year of specialist study and research after obtaining a basic science degree from either Macquarie University or an equivalent degree elsewhere.

Prospective Honours Students please read on ...

Honours programs in Physics and Optoelectronics are open to students who have qualified for a B.Sc. or B.A. majoring in Physics, or a B.Tech. (Opto) respectively, at Macquarie University or elsewhere to an equivalent standard. The normal admission requirement is a GPA of at least 2.5 overall and 2.5 in 300-level units. The program may be taken full time over 1 year, or, with special permission, part-time over 2 years, and may commence mid-year.

The Honours programs in Physics and Optoelectronics provide an introduction to research for prospective higher degree students. Honours is also an appropriate preparation for a career in industry, offering more advanced level coursework, and the chance to develop individual skills working independently on the research project and thesis.
