Workshop Details

The '3rd Annual FABLS Workshop' was held on 3rd February 2007 at BIO21 Molecular Science and Biotechnology Institute, Melbourne University, Australia.

The workshop was a designated satellite meeting of The 32nd Lorne Conference on Protein Structure and Function, Erskine Mantra Resort, Lorne 4-8th February 2007.

It was held immediately following the Biomolecular Dynamics & Interactions Symposium 2007 also held at BIO21. Details about Bio21 can be found at http://www.bio21.unimelb.edu.au/index.html. A map showing the location of Bio21 can be found here.

The FABLS Network, funded by the ARC, is designed to stimulate research by fostering new linkages and new research projects and in this context our yearly workshop is an important event. Following our 2006 model, in 2007 we offered for you several lectures by high profile scientists and a poster session to motivate strategic discussions, especially in the view of the first FABLS funding round for 2007. FABLS also had its yearly general meeting with a focus on administrative issues such as the approval of funding rules for 2007, the composition of Committees, and our Business Development activities.

This meeting offered an opportunity to think about future Centres of Excellence, CRCs or other large-scale collaborative initiatives.

We hope you enjoyed the workshop.

Dr Mark Prescott,
Conference Chair

Prof. Ewa Goldys,
Network Convenor
