Department of Physics Summer Vacation Research Scholarships in Physics, Photonics and Astronomy - Jan-Feb 2009

Do you expect to complete at least your second year of undergraduate studies this year? The Department of Physics, Macquarie University, is offering up to four undergraduate vacation scholarships for summer 2009, for periods of 6-7 weeks. These vacation scholarships are available to 2nd and 3rd year physics students studying at Australian Universities. Scholarships will be awarded on academic merit and suitability and have a tax-free stipend of $475/week. Successful applicants from outside the Sydney metropolitan area will receive financial support of return travel to Sydney to take up the scholarship.

Supervised vacation research projects are available in these areas:

   
  • Astronomy & Astrophysics
  • Optical characterisation
  • Optical & laser physics & applications
  • Quantum Optics & Information Theory
  • Organic Semiconductors
  • Photonic Materials & Devices
  • Vacuum UV sources & applications

 

Selection will be based on academic merit and suitability.
